The Ghosts of San Miguel

This morning a friend of mine, Tim Oates, sent me a link to some footage he had shot a couple of years ago at the San Miguel Pool in San Miguel, California.

I first skated the bowl in 1975, when I was 19 years old, little did I know then that I would be skating it again in 2003. The bowl has always held a special place in my skateboarding past, but it's history, goes much further back than 1975, the bowl actually dates back to World War II, when it was built for the soldiers of nearby Camp Roberts, one of the largest troop training centers during the war.

After re-discovering the bowl in 2003 I penned a short story called, "The Ghosts of San Miguel", if you would like to read it, just click the title. I've also posted the Tim Oates footage below.
